Research competence has become a central outcome of higher education, contributing to students' critical thinking, problem-solving, and lifelong learning capacities. However, its conceptualization remains fragmented, as existing studies often emphasize isolated research skills rather than providing an integrated and theoretically grounded framework. This limitation constrains the ability of higher education institutions to design coherent curricula and develop systematic approaches to competence assessment, particularly in emerging contexts. This study aims to develop a multidimensional research competence framework for undergraduate students. The framework is constructed through a qualitative synthesis of recent literature and theoretical perspectives, combined with contextual analysis of higher education practices. The proposed framework conceptualizes research competence as a structured system of eight interrelated dimensions, including research cognition, research methodology, data analysis, academic communication, research ethics, collaboration, research management, and research technology. These dimensions integrate cognitive, methodological, behavioral, and technological aspects of research competence, providing a more comprehensive representation than existing skill-based models. Each dimension is further operationalized through observable indicators, enabling its application in competence assessment and curriculum design.vi_VN
