Toward an Intelligent Maps Construction Framework:
A Case-study of VKU Campus Map

Abstract. InMaps is a framework that will be developed to create intelligent
maps by utilizing technologies such as 2D-3D maps, indoor location, and cloud
computing. Intelligent maps are web maps that can do smart things and convey
useful information for various audiences. With InMaps, we can make intelligent
2D and 3D maps of buildings or terrain and show valuable and real-time
information on top of the maps. The architecture, techniques, and implementation
of InMaps are also discussed in this article. We will use this framework to make
a campus map for the Vietnam - Korea University of Information and
Communication Technology.

1 Introduction
Maps are essential tools for navigation, exploration, and communication. They can
represent the physical world in various ways, such as 2D or 3D, and show different
types of information, such as roads, buildings, landmarks, or weather. However, most
of the existing maps are static and passive, meaning that they do not change according
to the user's needs or preferences, and they do not provide any interactive or
intelligent features. For example, a map of a campus may show the locations of the
buildings and facilities, but it may not tell the user how to get from one place to
another, what events are happening in each building, or what services are available in
each facility.
In this paper, we propose InMaps, a framework that will be developed to create
intelligent maps by utilizing technologies such as 2D-3D maps, indoor location, and
IoT. Intelligent maps are web maps that can do smart things and convey useful
information for various audiences. With InMaps, we can make intelligent 2D and 3D
maps of buildings or terrain and show valuable and real-time information on top of
the maps. For example, we can make a map of a campus that can guide the user to the
nearest restroom, cafeteria, or library; show the current occupancy and availability of
